Open Invitations - free overnight accomodation

We have three double spare rooms and are happy to provide free accommodation to any who are passing through the area or would like to use us as a base to explore the local area for a few days.

Any/all of Northern Ireland is within a days drive of here, including the Antrim Coast Road, while Kirkistown Circuit is only 20 miles down the coast.

We have a large car park and our record so far is 18 cars (nearly all RX7s and 8s) and 22 people overnight - though many of those were camping on the front lawn, prior to the Mazda 50th Anniversary event at Kirkistown last July.

There will be no charge for accommodation but guests will be expected to pay their way regarding food & drink - as we only have our pensions to live on.

This offer is made to fully paid members of the RX8 Owners Club, residing in in UK, ROI or further afield, including their friends/family travelling together.

For any that can't cope with the ferry across the Irish Sea (Brian?) we could arrange to pick up from Belfast City Airport.

In all cases, at least a week's notice would be appreciated.

I have driven the coast road from Carrickfergus to Portrush and literally runs along the foot of the hills and cliff next to the sea.
Kathy wants to visit Donegal so you may well see us next year, presuming the car survives the little Norway trip!

Did Norway this year on the bike. 2 weeks before leaving the bike started losing 2 gear. 5000 miles in 3 weeks and 2nd gear was no more. An excuse to strip and rebuild.
Should be fine in the car!

We visited Kerry and the Cliffs of Moha a couple of years ago and yes it really is a stunning place. I visited Donegal several times as kid living in Belfast as my best mate in those days had an Auntie who lived over there in a cottage with no running water and a beaten earth floor. Vivid memories of fishing off a tanker jetty and hauling on Pollack like there was no tomorrow!

May be we need a grand tour of Ireland organising.

Both rooms are taken for the Friday and Saturday nights but overnight camping (outdoor and indoor) is still available.

This year we beat that record with 28* cars and 27* people overnight on the Friday, plus 5 cars and 7 people on the Saturday, again for the Kirkistown Event.

*They might not be the exact numbers as there was a lot of coming and going, and I'm not counting the vans pulling the race-car trailers.

That's not my 8 but "Buttercup" a friends RX7 FD that had a water seal fail on the way up from Limerick, but still made it to Kirkistown for MazdaFest 2017. However we decided it was best to leave her with us, until she could be recovered in a race truck a month later.

Happy to report that she was rebuilt and is going strong again, including a revisit in 2018 and fast laps around Kirkistown.

Titanic is about 20 minutes away, as it's our side of Belfast.

Ulster Transport Museum is also worth a visit, on the way.
