Three Sisters Race Track RX-8 OC Day Hire

Post by thatturborx8 »

Good evening boys and girls.
Myself and a few other members taught that it will be a great idea to hire a race circuit for the day for us club members to go in and out, have fun and socialise.
We have chosen Three Sisters Race Circuit in Wigan because the track is small and technical so it is a place where the RX8 will excel.
There is a big paddock for parking and also a lovely cafe, toilets and other facilities.
I have managed to secure a deal where we can hire the full track with open pit lane for the day for £2300 and we can get upto 50 cars.
It will have to be either a Monday,Tuesday or Wednesday but we might get around that with a bank holiday or something.
It will be a great social meet and at the moment i am gauging interest to see how many of us are up for it in order to make it worthwile.
If we gather at least 30 cars it will come under £80 per car for a full track day which is not bad, especially when it will be just us club members.
So,what do you all think?😊

It will have to be a Monday,Tuesday or Wednesday and it will be a 9-5 full day with briefing starting at 8 30.
I cannot state dates or times of the year unfortunately unless we know how many of us would be up for it to see if it makes it worthwile.
When i know numbers i can then go back to them and see what dates are available really but i know they are quite flexible.

Yeah great shout Silviu. To be fair for a private track to ourselves im happy to put a day off in midweek and go up to £230 for 10 of us. Private track with no idiots and a few of us...... Yes please. I have a course for 2 weeks in the later half of August (15th onwards) but other than that should be quite flexible to pop a day off in given my counterpart isnt already off. (1 of us has to be in).

I'd be interested depending on dates, also happy with Drews suggestion to pay typical track day prices for a less busy track

I have a couple of friends (an S2000 and an Exige) who would be interested if people wanted to open it up to a broader audience, but understand if people would not want that.

Just putting options out there 😀

I'm interested dependant on dates. I have 2 holidays in August. I have very limited holiday allowance left this year, so shame it has to be a weekday, but I can hopefully work around that.

I would prefer if the numbers weren't too high, as it doesn't look like a track you can easily pass on.

There is only one proper straight where you can get like 85mph,there is where you would want to pass.
If we get over 10 interested and everybody is happy to split the cost i will ask for available dates.

I'll want to pass anyone who holds me up for more than one corner, so a quiet track will be ideal if there's only one passing place. Image

I would be interested in this, would be good if the numbers are limited to say around 20 as it is a very small track.

The only thing with other car types is it turns into the quicker ones being on you and potentially making stupid choices on a tight course. I.e BMW M3 at Anglesey that nearly took me and him both out because we had come to S bends after a long straight which he caught me easily up with. Most of the RX8s except prob silvius would maintain a semi decent amount of space as except for better drivers or tyres etc gaining a few seconds a lap on others the warp speed catch ups wouldnt happen.

But yes i would agree with Carl to pay more for a less busy track aswell.

Subject to the actual date for the event than I am interested.

I am sure you have these covered Silviu but thought it is worth mentioning the following points which came up when the club was booking the circuit for the annual meet a couple of years ago.

Does that that track hire cost include Track marshalls and Medical staff.
Under what name will the booking be made, an individual or the RX8OC and will the booker require Liability insurance for both personal injury and also damage to the track facilities in the event of an accident or paddock incident?

A valid observation Drew but it doesn't always take a more powerful car to create the scenario you describe above. I have had occasions where I have been "stuck" behind cars that are faster on the straights but slower through corners than my RX8 which is frustrating and always on track ones mirrors are a vital safety aid to prevent "frights" from cars as you enter the braking zone.

15 cars would be £153 each? Open pit lane etc that could be a nice number to cost ratio with sometimes very few cars out. As a group its easily managed to allow a good gap of a leaving car before next heads out anyway? And with chris that would be 10, should be easy enough to find another 5 as members check in on the forum that are not daily users.

Indeed, it was the exit of the S bends in that instance where he was on me after the long straight, held own on the S with the RX8s handling with him initially dropping off my back bumper and then on the exit of the S drifting wide following the usual line from the Tight apex he engaged the M3 warp power again for an illegal outside overtake against the Marshal and organisers rules and briefs in the morning. Luckily said Dumbo ear wing mirrors came into their own at that point with me able to prevent an accident.

I have certainly not had all of these covered :)
Hire cost includes track marshalls and medical staff.
I have discussed the booking in my name as i am not an event organiser of the club hence cannot discuss events with third parties in the name of the club.
Insurance has not been mentioned as i did not think this will be required for us to provide but can always ask.

I agree that 15 cars will be ok.
Anyway i do think that they will only allow a certain number of cars at any one time so once one goes out ,other will go in but i will check that with them.

Ok guys,
it is £2300,marshalls and medical team included Mon-Wed 9-5.
No public liability insurance is required, track has its own, the cars must be road legal, be registered and have an mot, full face helmet is to be worn and all body parts are to be covered on track.
There is a briefing to be had at 9am,all drivers and their cars must check in and register as you would on a normal track day after that the track can be ripped.
NOW ,out of the 10 people interested ,does any of you have a date in mind bare in mind it has to me Mon-Wed.
